I'm proud to announce the official alpha release of Project Explore. It's finally here! I've of course included a few additional features to the game in the last few hours prior to it's release. But first, check out this sweet widget.
A few other things really fast...
If you wish to purchase a copy for yourself, go to the link below!
Now on to the cool features! I've added the ability to dash by double tapping any movement key. This is almost entirely useless as of now but I'm sure it will pay off in the future when somebody is shooting a machine gun at you and you can dash instead of running a straight line.
I cleaned up a lot of the games code especially code regarding the players movement. I fixed the diagonal movement which used to be a 35 degree of movement, it's now a 45 degree angle (A straight line diagonally if you are holding two congruent directions).
I added a sweet new audio menu that works as of now. I think it's important to give the user every option I can to enhance their own game experience however they would like.
Detail is something that I feel Project Explore could have a bit more of... So I added birds. Yes, birds.
The birds fly around at random. Ignore the framerate shown in the gif shown above, I was taking a screenshot each second.
A much requested piece of content was the almighty rock. A resource that provided you with the ability to collect rocks and other minerals.
A nice touch up I decided to add was a popup indicating that you gathered a specific resource upon hitting it. This popup really helps clarify whether or not that particular tool you are using is doing anything.
I also added 'perks' which allow for the player to get bonuses from various items put into those slots. So far there are different shoes which provide you different speed bonuses and a teddy bear which GREATLY reduces sanity loss, and helps regenerate sanity more quickly.
I'm sure that there are more features I have added that are slipping my mind but I guess those are to be a surprise to you! Thanks for reading and make sure to grab yourself a copy of Project Explore before the sale ends! The normal price is $10 but it will remain on sale for $2.50 until February 24th of 2015.
