In the latest version of Project Explore you may notice a few changes... :)
Forgive me for being smug but I think it's all starting to come together nicely.
I've added environmental ambience, footstep sounds, and a day/night cycle.
The footstep sounds you can hear are based on the current surface you are treading upon. Each surface has a different set of sounds. I decided that this would help create an immersive experience for the player.
I went a step further and have gathered different ambience for each part of the day cycle. I only have two implemented at the moment, morning and night.
I've also fixed diagonal movement on the player to create equal movement speed in all 8 directions of movement. Before, diagonal movement allowed twice the speed. You were able to outrun wolves. That's an issue for the overall game design. Good thing it's now taken care of.
I've re-worked some collision code with the wolves. They no longer push around each other's corpses. So that's good.
I still need to implement footsteps for each type of surface. There are only three surfaces that create footstep audio. A lot more to finish.
