I created the idea of Project Explore because I saw a lot of games such as Rust, DayZ, and Minecraft take a shot at created an exciting open-world multiplayer environment. None of the games failed, they all were unique in many ways, but I wanted to take away from all this and create my own world. Do something they hadn't done. Make a massive world where everyone can find something exciting to do. You should never be left with a, "Now what?" feeling.
The reason I'm posting this now, is that I'm going to try and get back on track with Project Explore. The engine has always been my main concern, I've re-done the engine quite a few times, but I'm certain with all my past experience and knowledge that I'm now ready. It's going to be a huge task because I'm approaching this as a single developer, but with dedication and persistence, this game will be completed, and it will be fun as heck to play.
