It appears as though Steam will not be giving Project Explore the greenlight pass as early as I had hoped. Unfortunately (for me), the game will not be reaching Steam just yet. Fortunately (for you), this means that the early access release will be released a few months early.
The game will only cost $2.50 for the time being until more features are implemented. As the game is further developed, the games price will increase until it reaches $7.50 or $10.00.
I'd recommend nabbing yourself a copy sooner than later.
In further news, I've spent quite some time developing the map editor that was promised. Along with that, I've done a minor overhaul to the terrain texture system and implemented texture transitions. This will be a optional graphical feature of course.
Thank you for all the support and as always, keep it up! Make sure to follow me @cookieboy31 for tons of news and updates on Project Explore. It's also a great way to contact me.
I realized that Project Explore still lacked any sort of real "swing and hit" type of combat. It was still in a state developed for testing only. So I re-wrote the part of the item and weapon system so that you CAN swing and hit stuff!
After I implemented that, I thought why not take it a step further and use the same system for collecting resources. Watching a progression bar fill is VERY boring to watch compared to hitting a tree and watching the wood splinter off with each swing of your weapon.
I then wanted to beat down angry animals with my powerful rock. So I implemented that too.
Last but not least... I've added more items! Including the following (this is not a complete list):
I have a large list of items planned out as well. They will all make their way into the game over time. If you would like any items included in the game, feel free to leave a comment on this post!
Thanks for reading!
While I await my game to become officially accepted onto Steam, I've spent a lot of time trying to improve Project Explore. One missing feature I realized should have already been implemented was access to some form of a map. Here's what I've got done since last night...
The games current estimated release date is anywhere from 1/7/2015 to forever. It's really just up to Steam and when they want to add Project Explore.
