Instead of me just talking a bunch, let's look at some oh so wonderful pictures!
You may have realized it already but we are working hard on making a very simple yet dynamic engine for Project Explore. I want to make sure we have no restrictions on the game.
Weather has been added in as well. You'll notice that the terrain is actually affected by the weather. When it rains, the ground becomes moist, saturated. When it snows, the ground becomes covered by snow and ice. The effects fade in slowly as well based on the weather itself.
Optimization was a huge goal in the last iteration of Project Explore but we rushed into it and didn't think ahead when developing that engine. I would like you to take note of the FPS (frames per second) on the bottom-left hand side of each image. It's never below 200. Even when using hundreds of particles for weather effects. We haven't even tested our new compiler on it yet because the engine runs so smoothly even without it!
